Helsinki Shipyard is the global leader in designing and building specialized, ice-capable vessels, with around half of the world’s icebreakers in service built at our yard. We deliver tailor-made, high-quality ships engineered for the most extreme operating conditions.

Our work spans the full lifecycle of complex vessels – from advanced engineering to construction, outfitting, and commissioning – bringing together skilled professionals across disciplines. We are currently building a heavy Polar Max icebreaker for the Canadian Coast Guard, with construction underway in Helsinki and final completion in Canada. During 2026, the construction of two Arctic Security Cutter–class icebreakers for the United States Coast Guard begins.
